Enough wood for ‘Oliver’

This is in the whaling village of Lahaina on Maui.  O.K. It’s hasn’t been a whaling village in a lot of years — but you know – tourist marketing.

It is a Banyan tree planted in 1873 but not by any current member of our club.  It has 12 “trunks” plus the core shown in this photo.

On Molokai.  In a protected park.  Sigh.

Seriously, this was in a groove of beautiful trees overlooking the Leprosy Colony at Kaulapapa on Molokai.  It was overcast the day we were there but the view was spectacular.  Of course, to a turner, the trees were the scenery.  You can’t turn a vase from a sunset!

Not a lot to discuss.  First meeting at the new Wood gallery.  I am hoping everyone comes loaded with some cool ideas.  I’d love to come away with a list of the demonstrations, locations and pre-set monthly challenges for the WHOLE YEAR!  High hopes! (and maybe someone will buy my trusty old typewriter!)

Fine working condition – instant boot up!

Club members,
Our new hosted site is up and running.  I seem to have misplaced some files.  If you see them or the lack of them, please notify me and I will try and get things fixed.

Those of you that had posted things on our blog site should still be able to.  Fire away!
